Annotations for Pink Ego Box Instant Messenger

Lyric: Instant Messenger
Annotation:
The original name of the song, which had included a short “You’ve got post!” sound byte, but due to legal pressure from AOL, Muse had renamed the song under a new moniker (Pink Ego Box). This song was originally on the “Muscle Museum EP”, however, later found itself on the single of “Muscle Museum” (CD 2) from “Showbiz”, and Muse’s Japanese-only release, “Random 1-8”.

Lyric: You’ve got post
Annotation:
“You’ve got post!/"You’ve got mail!” was a phrase popularized by America Online in the Late 80’s to late 90’s, and was a phrase uttered when an E-Mail was received. Elwood Edwards spoke the famous, “You’ve Got Mail!” in 1989.

Lyric: At 50 bytes per second
Annotation:
This seems like a rather low number, given that you could reach up to 56 kbps in the late Nineties (which means around 7000 bytes per second!) in most European households. This could be interpreted as the urge to talk to a person and the perception of time being slowed down.
